Longing For Home

The great theologian Maximus in the movie Gladiator said, "What we do in life echoes in eternity". I believe that. We only have one life. It goes by quickly sometimes at seemingly breakneck speed. I have been thinking about eternity a lot because it seems so close. It's really only a heartbeat away. I have been longing for home."...He has also set eternity in the human heart..." Ecclesiastes 3:11

This life is a vapour compared to eternity. We were created to be with God. Did you know God is preparing a place for you? “Do not let your hearts be troubled. You believe in God; believe also in me. My Father’s house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am." John 14:1-3

If you were to die today do you know where you will be forever? One day, maybe soon, you will step into eternity. "For we know that if the earthly tent we live in is destroyed, we have a building from God, an eternal house in heaven, not built by human hands." 2 Corinthians 5:1-2

Heaven is where God dwells. Psalm 33:13 "From heaven the Lord looks down and sees all mankind;" Philippians 3:20 says, "But our citizenship is in heaven. And we eagerly await a Savior from there, the Lord Jesus Christ..."

"For while we are in this tent, we groan and are burdened, because we do not wish to be unclothed but to be clothed instead with our heavenly dwelling, so that what is mortal may be swallowed up by life.  Now the one who has fashioned us for this very purpose is God, who has given us the Spirit as a deposit, guaranteeing what is to come. Therefore we are always confident and know that as long as we are at home in the body we are away from the Lord.  For we live by faith, not by sight.  We are confident, I say, and would prefer to be away from the body and at home with the Lord." 2 Corinthians 5: 4-8

Abraham realized this world was not his home. He"waited for the city which has foundations, whose builder and maker is God." Hebrews 11:10

I can't begin to imagine how amazing Heaven will be."Eye has not seen, nor ear heard, Nor has entered into the heart of man the things which God has prepared for those who love Him." 1 Corinthians 2:9

Only those who have repented of their sin and trusted Jesus to be their Savior will be in Heaven. We will not be there because of our good works. It is only by God's grace. If you refuse Jesus offer of salvation your home will not be in Heaven. The Bible says you will be in Hell. He doesn't want that for you. God wants you to choose life. Now. Today. While you still have breath. Before it's too late.

God alone has the power to make your next moments count. What you do in the brief moments of this life WILL echo into eternity. If you aren't a Christian God has the power to change your heart and save your soul. His dreams for you reach far beyond time and into forever. I pray you will choose life.

"And this is my prayer: that your love may abound more and more in knowledge and depth of insight, so that you may be able to discern what is best and may be pure and blameless for the day of Christ, filled with the fruit of righteousness that comes through Jesus Christ—to the glory and praise of God." Philippians 1:9-11 May His love enfold you and may your life bring glory and honor to God—now and forever. I hope we meet in Heaven. Blessings, Beloved.

About Me

Rena was born a block away from a fascinating tide pool in Vancouver, British Columbia. (She loves tide pools, painting, reading, writing...)

She has been an  Elementary and High School teacher for 18 years -- is married and has for adult children --and has had the amazing opportunity to travel the globe as an Ambassador with the Department of Eternal Affairs.

Rena began writing her story -- one of rejection, betrayal, and healing from brokenness -- while sitting under a mosquito net in China. Two years later she put all the scribbly notes together at a guest house in Haifa, Israel. "A Life Set Free" was born.

"Bubs Bunny Goes to Camp", "Mommy & Baby's Journal", and her latest book -- "MANHUNT"-- Book 1 in "The Narrow Path Trilogy" -- are available on Amazon.

God took an abandoned, fearful child and is using her life to show the impossible is possible when our lives are surrendered to Him. He can do more than we ask or think. She sincerely hopes this blog blesses and encourages you. Blessings, Beloved.
