Imagine a day when time is no more, and you are standing before the Judge in the highest court of the Universe. The stakes are high. The ruling will determine where you will spend eternity. The records of your life are being reviewed. Nothing will be hidden on that day."And I saw the dead, great and small, standing before the throne, and the books were opened. Another book was opened, which is the book of life. The dead were judged according to what they had done as recorded in the books." (Revelation 20:12)
All your words, thoughts, motives, and actions will be revealed. All present will hear how you broke God's laws that were written before time began. Any lies, thefts, blasphemies, lust, and dishonoring of God or your parents, as well as all other sins, will be exposed. You have broken eternal laws and are without excuse. You hear a voice say, "The wages of sin is death..." You realize with horror you will be separated from all that is pure, beautiful, holy...forever. By your own choice, you will be banished to a horrific place of darkness and depravity, with no hope of ever leaving. The verdict will never be able to be overturned. There is no higher court in all the universe to appeal to.
But wait. I have good news for you. Let's change the scene. Let's say you accepted Jesus' free gift of salvation while you were alive. That horrific scene where all your sins are displayed won't happen. All your guilty stains will have been washed away. Another book is opened. It's called the Book of Life. The courtroom is quiet. The Judge rises. Your name has been found in the book. The Judge holds out his nail-scarred hands as proof that your guilty verdict has been pardoned. He has paid the death penalty for you. You are invited to walk through a portal filled with brilliant light. It leads to the most stunningly beautiful place you have ever seen. You realize with joy you are finally, forever home. As you are lovingly greeted by the hosts of Heaven you hear over and over..."He did it for you".
"For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord." (Romans 6:23) The wages of sin is death. Jesus paid those wages on our behalf. What a gift we have been offered! Heaven! We have been invited to be part of God's forever family! One day we will cross over into eternity. Where will the Judge decide you will be? It is your choice to decide now.
Jesus was the lamb slain from before the foundations of the world. (Revelation 13:8) "Without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness of sin." (Hebrews 9:22) "The blood of goats and bulls and the ashes of a heifer sprinkled on those who are ceremonially unclean sanctify them so that they are outwardly clean. How much more, then, will the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself unblemished to God, cleanse our consciences from acts that lead to death, so that we may serve the living God!" (Hebrews 9:13-14) Jesus gave His life for us. Voluntarily. Don’t lose sight of that. He paid for our freedom in the high courts of Heaven with His life’s blood.
One day, when time is no more, you will stand before the judge of Heaven and Earth. I hope before that day you have asked Jesus to forgive your sins and accepted His offer of eternal life. You will never regret that decision. “God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whosoever believes in Him shall not perish but have everlasting life.”(John 3:16) The King of the Universe wants to welcome you home on that day. He loves you more than you can imagine. Remember, He did it for you. Blessings, Beloved.
