Not ashamed...

Updated: Jul 18

"For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth, for the Jew first and also for the Greek." Romans 1:16

Have you ever felt totally awkward, inadequate, and maybe even embarrassed trying to talk to someone about Christ? I have. Recently.

Elaine and I were standing in line waiting to vote in the federal election. She informed me she is Buddhist, believes in reincarnation, has a daughter who is a Wiccan, and says there is no God. The people standing around us suddenly got very quiet as they listened to our conversation. I didn't know if I stood among friends or ...

I told Elaine I believe Genesis 1:1. She laughed. She thought the notion of God creating everything was absurd.I admit it seemed futile to say anything further...but...I kept talking. I had to. I was possibly her only chance to hear about the God who loves her with an everlasting love.

When it was my turn to vote I hugged her goodbye (of course we didn't look like these adorable children but I thought this was a great hugging photo) and I told her God loves her. So many are like this precious woman. They are lost for eternity unless God intervenes. I pray God speaks to her heart and confirms to her He is real.

This is meant to encourage you. Be bold. There are a a lot of lost people out there. Someone's eternity doesn't depend on your eloquent words but on the power of God. Be faithful to share the gospel when His Spirit prompts you to. Any feelings of inadequacy are irrelevant. "For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to everyone that believes; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek." (Romans 1:16)

Daniel 12:3 "They that be wise shall shine as the brightness of the firmament, and they that turn many to righteousness as the stars, forever and forever."Isn't that an amazing verse?Jesus has been given all power in Heaven and in Earth. We are to go in His name, His authority (remember ~ feelings are irrelevant) and share His gospel. Don't be ashamed to tell others. Trust Him to speak through you. Be brave. Who cares if you look foolish? May people stand in Heaven because you lived. Blessings, Beloved.

About Me

Rena was born a block away from a fascinating tide pool in Vancouver, British Columbia. She has taught Kindergarten to Grade 12 in a Public school, Christian schools, homeschool, and in an International school in China. She has four beautiful children...a baby in Heaven...a very cool husband...published three books (A Life Set Free, Mommy & Baby's Journal, and Bubs Bunny Goes to Camp) and painted a few paintings. God has given her incredible opportunities to be involved with short term missions around the globe as an Ambassador with the Department of Eternal Affairs. Her personal story is one of healing from brokenness. God took an abandoned, fearful child and is using her life to show that nothing is impossible when our lives are surrendered to God.  Her greatest joy is to bring joy to God's heart. She  sincerely hopes this blog is a blessing to you.
